Carlos Latuff is an internationally renowned political cartoonist born in 1968 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Latuff is a controversial artist whose work deals with an array of themes, including anti-globalisation, anti-capitalism and anti-U.S military intervention. Moreover, the issue that he is best known for, are his images depicting the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and, more recently, the Arab Spring events.
Often accused of being antisemitic by Israeli institutions, Latuff’s works simply focus on Israel as a political entity – a government, and the Israeli government’s policies towards Palestinians. Latuff has gained international recognition for his works that depict these very complex and defining issues of Palestinian apartheid.
All profits from works sold by Latuff help fund arts based projects at the Lajee Center in Aida refugee camp, Palestine.
