Shift//Delete in print…
Upper Space artists Shift//Delete have just had their first work published in ’100 Days of Active Resistance’. Published by Vivienne Westwood, ’100 Days of Active Resistance’ will see all proceeds going to charity. Go grab a copy from any decent book retailer and take a look inside for some visual inspiration on ways to resist the propaganda from across the globe.
This new book bring together 100 images that represent the idea of active resistance. From the 8th of September 2010 for 100 days, the public were asked to send in art works, slogans and photographs that best represent the idea of active resistance. Each day one artwork was showcased online before the entire collection was showcased in an exhibition and this accompanying publication.
As Westwood herself puts it: ‘The principle idea of active resistance is that you get out of life what you put in and that real experience of the world involves thinking. It is not enough to follow world politics, see films and read the prize-winning best sellers. This is superficial, you need to go deep in order to understand who you are, what the world is and how things could be better. This involves culture which can only be acquired by self education’.
So active resistance is super deep shit for the modern human. If this is your bag make sure you pick a copy up from an independent bookseller. We will post the fliks of the inside when we get ours in.
